Under the Roman wheel
The bottle cellar under the Roman wheel
We are probably the hundredth generation since the Romans to practice viticulture on the hills above the river Mura. We can easily picture the Roman festivities on the Forum Romanum, where they celebrated Bacchus, the god of wine, and we can imagine hearing the rattling of wooden cartwheels heavily loaded with wine from “our” vineyards bound for Roman cities.
As a remembrance of Roman times and as a token of gratitude to all the generations of wine growers a Roman wheel has been incorporated in our cellar, where together with the sunlight it symbolizes the development of viticulture and wine trade in our region.
