Radgonsko - Kapelske gorice
In the far north-eastern part of the Slovenian Highlands is a hilly area between the Ščavnica River in the south, the Apache Fields in the west and north-west, and the Mura River in the east and north-east. It is here that the Radgonsko - Kapelske gorice. The peaks and slopes are planted with vines that for millennia have produced a noble drink that even the gods would not refuse.
Face
In the Radgona Mountains, in their unique cellars we have been producing and storing wines since 1852. The pride of the house is the first and most awarded Slovenian sparkling wine, winner of more than 10 championships and more than 100 medals at international competitions, Zlata radgonska penina.
Climate
The continental climate is influenced by the Pannonian Plain. It is this favourable climate that provides very good conditions for the growth of vines.
It is characterised by hot summers and cold winters. The fresh and dry Pannonian climate meet between the hills and thus have a favourable effect on quality. Traminer is particularly grateful for these rich natural conditions.
Sufficient sunshine, favourable temperatures, moderate rainfall and the right soil are the natural conditions that favour any vine. The winegrower and the cellarer, who, in addition to their hard-working hands, also have a great love of culture, are the guarantors of the production of high quality wines in Gornji Radgona.
Floors
The vineyard soils of the area are very varied. Two soil profiles have developed from the Pliocean loam: brown sandy loam and brown sandy gravel.
These soils are characterised by their low fertility, but require regular fertilisation to keep them in full production. With proper fertilisation and nurturing, they can produce high quality grapes.
