Pet-nat Renina

The five-nat Renina is a special wine in a category of its own. They say it is the 'odd man out' of wines; but a happy and fun one, playful and lively and terribly drinkable, if only we allow it to experiment with our taste buds.

Maybe we will smile. Maybe we will cringe. Maybe we'll moan deliciously. Maybe we'll just shrug our shoulders. Maybe we'll touch enthusiastically.

Anything is possible when we don't know what to expect. Everything.

Pet-Nat is the "affectionate" abbreviation for the French term petillant-naturelle. Translated, it can be understood as 'naturally sparkling'. This means that before the first fermentation is complete, the wine is bottled and left to complete the process. The result is a delicate, sparkling wine that fills our mouths with the fruitiness of the grapes. The production method is called "methode ancestrale". No sulphur is added and the wine remains cloudy, as in most cases it is not filtered.

It is one of the easiest methods of production, but one of the most difficult because it is unpredictable. It takes courage on the part of the winemaker to put the most natural type of sparkling wine on the table - and to hold his breath while waiting for a reaction ...
